A unique and “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity is up for bid on the NCM Auction Block. Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET, the auction winner and a guest will enjoy dinner at the home of David and Karen Hill in Grosse Pointe, MI and be allowed to go with David to the Auto Show where the C6 Z06 will be introduced, for an early walk-around on Saturday morning. Two tickets to the Auto Show are also included in the package. This special auction item is presented by the Entire Performance Car Team and other invited celebrities including Doug and Gail Fehan and Gary and Robin Pratt. A “Memory Book” of the experience will be prepared to document the evening and will be mailed out to the participants. The auction winner will be joined by other couples who had the opportunity to bid on additional packages offered at 10th Anniversary Lifetime Member dinner. A limited number of 50th Anniversary Event Press Kits are available for a $100 donation to the Museum’s Building Campaign. The hard-bound, boxed press kit comes complete with a colorful 50th Anniversary introduction CD-Rom and 79-page, 4-color press booklet detailing the celebration activities, highlights of Corvette’s 50 years, and various Corvette images. As if someone “up above” approved, the weekend weather was absolutely beautiful. There was lots of sun but it wasn’t hot and there was a soft cool breeze coming in from the West. It was beautiful indeed. Hundreds of Corvettes were a stunning sight as they swarmed the rural Midwest town.

Mark your calendars and make plans to watch the Discovery Channel’s “Rebuilding an Icon” for an inside look at the C6 Corvette and unveiling. The show will air Wednesday, September 29, at 8:00 p.m. and at 11:00 p.m. ET. The show is approximately one hour in length. For more information visit the Discovery Channel site.

New Corvette owners will be getting personal thank you calls directly from specially trained personnel at the GM Corvette Assembly Plant through a new “Welcome Call” program set up in the Corvette Plant. Beginning in early October, customers will receive a call 20-30 days after they have picked up their new car. The main purpose of the call is to thank them for buying the product. It also gives the plant a better understanding of the customer and provides the customer an opportunity to have their questions answered.

In two days the NCM will be welcoming home our friends for the 10th Anniversary Corvette Celebration. We hope that you are planning to attend this grand celebration. If you are not able to join the event, the NCM invites you to check out the event coverage that will be made available via their website following the event. If you are an NCM Member, you will receive a special September/October “10th Anniversary Commemorative America’s Sports Car” magazine in the mail following the event. The magazine will feature event coverage from the 10th Anniversary Celebration and also includes articles on the grand opening and NCM history.
